Darlene Brooks is a Trenton resident who has been attending the Classic Country Music Reunion and Jamboree for several years.
She came to the attention of the Executive of the C.C.M.R. last year when they were hosting an Information Centre in downtown Trenton during the D.B.I.A. annual Street Sale.
Darlene approached us and asked if she could sing a few songs and we gladly obliged. What a breath of fresh air she brought to our tent. She was at our event in Trenton last year and it was decided we would give her a spot on Main Stage this year.
We hear she started singing at the age of 4 and she enjoys the classic country tunes sung by the legends of country music, such as Loretta Lynn, Kitty Wells and Tammy Wynette.
She has performed at the open mic portions of several jamborees during the past few years and she recorded her first CD, “Livin’ A Dream”, in June 2008. Her second CD, “Home Grown Country” was recorded in March (2009) and it has three original country songs on it. They will be available for purchase at the “C.C.M.R. Music Store”.
Darlene is another of the “first timers” performing on the C.C.M.R. Main Stage this year. This is the place we showcase several traditional country acts along with the Legends of Country Music.
